A goods train derailment on July 31 between Kodarma and Giridih in the Dhanbad rail division has led to pressing safety concerns. The All India Guards Council is urging the immediate filling of vacant train manager posts, emphasizing the severe threat posed to passenger trains due to such lapses.
The council blames the absence of a train manager for the derailment, stating that their presence is crucial for guiding train operations and avoiding accidents. The Dhanbad Division of the East Central Railway has yet to respond to these claims.
According to council members, an experienced train manager could have prevented the collision that led to the derailment. With 14,520 train manager posts vacant, the council is pushing for urgent staffing to ensure safe rail operations across the network.
