Sky High Tensions: Air Canada Strike Grounds Flights
Air Canada flight attendants have gone on strike over a wage dispute, causing major disruptions with hundreds of flights suspended. The Canadian Union of Public Employees seeks fair compensation, while the airline faces pressure from businesses and government to resolve the strike swiftly.

Hundreds of Air Canada employees have taken to picket lines at major airports across Canada, following a walkout by unionized flight attendants due to a contract dispute. This strike, which began just before 1 a.m. EDT on Saturday, has caused severe disruptions for travelers, with over 100,000 passengers affected.
Air Canada has suspended most of its 700 daily flights, impacting passengers across Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver. The Canadian Union of Public Employees, representing more than 10,000 flight attendants, confirms the work stoppage, marking the first such strike since 1985.
The ongoing dispute focuses on wages, with the union advocating for compensation for time spent on the ground. Businesses already facing challenges from trade disputes with the U.S. have called for government intervention, but the union seeks a negotiated settlement. Both sides remain under pressure to reach an agreement.
