The tragic flash floods in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have claimed 327 lives, including over a dozen children, in the past 48 hours, provincial authorities announced on Saturday. The region's death toll forms a significant part of the 645 fatalities recorded nationwide since the monsoon season started in June.
Over the last 24 hours, 151 people have died across the country, with the highest number, 144, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by the National Disaster Management Authority. The torrential rains, continuing intermittently until August 21, have led to the worst flooding in the districts of Buner, Shangla, and Mansehra, among others.
The Pakistan Army has intensified its relief operations, including deploying troops and resources to the affected areas.
