A fire erupted on the Danish shipping vessel, Marie Maersk, off the coast of Liberia last Wednesday. Efforts by the crew have successfully halted the fire's spread, according to a statement released by Maersk on Monday.
Throughout the weekend, the crew's persistent firefighting minimized the threat, with plans to intensify operations once external firefighters can access the ship. The seafarers are assuredly safe, with the vessel scheduled for redirection to a designated port of refuge.
Although Maersk confirmed that the crew is unharmed, they refrained from commenting on the impact of the incident on the ship's cargo. Efforts to bring additional firefighting support continue, aiming to increase the operation's efficacy onboard Marie Maersk.
