India's hiring landscape faces a disturbing trend, as AuthBridge's Workforce Fraud Files 2025 reveal a significant rise in discrepancies within its workforce. The report highlights a 6 per cent discrepancy rate among white-collar positions and 4 per cent among gig workers, underscoring the urgent need for enhanced verification practices.

The findings show that 17 per cent of white-collar resumes contain mismatches, while 13 per cent of employment verifications reveal inflated salaries or fabricated work experiences. This mounting issue of misrepresentation has led to substantial financial risks, potentially costing employers up to one-third of an employee's first-year salary.

AuthBridge CEO Ajay Trehan underlines the critical need for systemic change, stressing that outdated hiring practices no longer suffice in the evolving job market. The report notes worrying trends, including moonlighting, fake education credentials, and address verification failures, calling for immediate action to safeguard business interests and consumer safety.
