Uttar Pradesh Cancels Non-Tax E-Challans for Millions of Vehicle Owners

The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department announced a significant relief move for vehicle owners on Tuesday by cancelling non-tax e-challans issued from 2017 to 2021, according to a senior official. These challengs, now visible on the transport portal under two primary categories, will relieve citizens of administrative burdens.
Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narayan Singh emphasized that the decision falls within legal frameworks, prioritizing transparency and citizen-friendly measures. Singh stressed the importance of all officers ensuring full compliance within set timelines, aiming for an unobstructed, respectful service experience.
Notably, this initiative affects the renewal of various vehicle permits and certificates but excludes tax-related challans. The process will conclude in 30 days, allowing vehicle owners to verify their challan status online. The government assures that no refunds will be issued, and non-tax challans will not be reopened.
