India is taking significant steps to reinforce its standing as a key player in the global rice market, which it currently dominates with a 40% share. Dev Garg, Vice President of the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF) and Director of Shri Lal Mahal Group, emphasized India's ambition to become the most reliable rice exporter worldwide.

Garg, in an exclusive interview with ANI, discussed how India is reshaping the global food supply chain at a pivotal moment in its economic history. He noted that India has now surpassed a production milestone of 145 million metric tonnes, asserting leadership not only in production but also in market influence, exporting to 172 countries.

Garg announced the 'Bharat International Rice Conference,' set for October 30-31, 2025, in New Delhi. The event is anticipated to gather over 1,000 international buyers and more than 5,000 Indian farmers, aiming to enhance India's global brand and support the nation's long-term vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. The Indian government, alongside IREF, is dedicated to making this conference a landmark success.
