Gehlot Criticizes BJP for Erasing Tribal History in School Textbooks

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of intentionally undermining tribal contributions by removing significant historical references from school textbooks. His remarks came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Banswara district.

Gehlot highlighted the omission of Mangarh Dham's history, a key site for the Bhils, known as the 'Jallianwala Bagh of Rajasthan,' due to a massacre in 1913. The site is associated with Govind Guru, a prominent tribal leader who spearheaded the Bhagat movement against British rule.

The former chief minister called for the restoration of tribal histories in educational materials and demanded an apology from the BJP. Prime Minister Modi is set to visit Banswara on September 25 to inaugurate an atomic energy project.
