Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has launched a scathing critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, accusing it of intentionally minimizing the contributions of tribal communities as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to visit Banswara's tribal regions.
Gehlot alleged that Mangarh Dham's history was conspicuously removed from a class 4 textbook, stating that this action exemplifies the BJP's mindset towards Adivasi identity. Mangarh Dham, near the Rajasthan-Gujarat border, is a site of profound historical importance to the tribal community, particularly the Bhils, likened to the ''Jallianwala Bagh of Rajasthan'' due to the massacre of 1913.
As Prime Minister Modi's visit to Banswara on September 25 draws near, Gehlot reiterated his demand for an apology from the BJP. He insists that the government should promptly reinstate sections on Mangarh Dham and related tribal history in school textbooks to honor the legacy of tribal heroes.
