West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed her cabinet to maintain heightened vigilance during the Durga Puja festivities. This directive was delivered during a cabinet meeting at the state secretariat, emphasizing the need to counter any disruption to law and order during the celebrations.
In the same meeting, the cabinet approved a significant proposal to transfer 200 acres to the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Limited (WBIDC) for the Tajpur-Dankuni-Raghunathpur economic corridor. This project is anticipated to offer substantial employment opportunities and propel industrial growth within the state.
Additionally, the cabinet accorded industry status to the logistics sector, aligning with previous recognition given to tourism, to draw investment and streamline business operations. Approval was also granted for filling 15 vacancies within the Newtown Kolkata Development Authority, aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure and planning.
