Northern Railways' Swift Moves: Apple Industry Boost via Rail Transport

Northern Railways has significantly contributed to the apple industry by supplying 21 container-based wagons to ferry apples from Kashmir, officials announced Monday. This strategic move follows the transportation of over 6,400 tons of apples from Kashmir to Delhi using different wagon types.

The shipment operation included loading 21 wagons at Bari Brahmana, accommodating nearly 76 special containers per wagon. These initiatives support the apple sector with enhanced logistics and storage solutions, including introducing insulated steel puff panels for temperature-controlled storage.

Additionally, the railway expansion now includes hauling other goods like mustard oil, showcasing the railway's vital role in transporting essential supplies, especially amid road disruptions. The parcel train service enhances delivery times and continues to be pivotal in economic supply chains.
