The Bairabi-Sairang railway line, a crucial addition to Mizoram's infrastructure, has demonstrated significant success within just a month of its launch, according to the Railway Ministry. The new line has connected Mizoram with the rest of the country through passenger and cargo services.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 51.38-km section on September 13. In a press release, the Railway Ministry reported a promising reaction from passengers and freight clients, with local products gaining better market access and new trade and employment opportunities springing up.
Passenger trains, including the Rajdhani Express to Delhi, have seen impressive occupancy rates, with some exceeding full capacity. Similarly, freight operations have performed well, with various shipments, including cement and flowers, underscoring the strong demand for this vital connection.
