IndiGo has announced the resumption of its direct flight services between Kolkata and Guangzhou, China, starting October 26, 2025. This development signifies a renewed effort to restore air connectivity between the two nations following disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and local geopolitical issues.
Initially halted in early 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak and tensions along the eastern Ladakh border, the direct flights between India and China are set to return as part of a broader push to normalize bilateral relations. The resumption comes after continuous discussions at the technical level between aviation authorities of both countries.
The airline is also planning to introduce direct flights from Delhi to Guangzhou, subject to necessary approvals. The Indian Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed on Thursday that both countries are on track to resume direct air services by the end of October 2025, in line with the winter flight schedule.
