Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is expected to make a significant visit to India next week. This marks the first high-level trip from Kabul since the Taliban took over power from the Ashraf Ghani government nearly four years ago.
Reports suggest that Muttaqi is set to travel to India from October 10, although official confirmation is yet to be released. Last month, planned talks in New Delhi were postponed due to a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) travel ban, but an exemption has now been granted.
Muttaqi's visit highlights evolving diplomatic relations between New Delhi and the Taliban. India has consistently called for an inclusive Afghan government and has continued to send humanitarian aid. Recent talks indicate a possible shift in mutual perspectives, as India re-establishes a technical presence in Kabul.
