The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has launched a pioneering Centre for Advanced Research (CAR) following a generous Rs. 12.84 crore grant from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). This collaboration aims to revolutionize the standard of palliative care within India's healthcare sector.
The center's inauguration featured key figures such as Dr Ashoo Grover of ICMR and Dr Roopa Shivashankar, with MAHE's Dr H. S. Ballal highlighting the profound research impact envisioned. Dr Sharath K. Rao articulated a strategic plan for advancing health research at MAHE, emphasizing the introduction of a Multifaceted Comprehensive Appropriate Care Package within critical care settings.
Dr Naveen Salins leads the research initiative, promising a scalable, ethically-grounded care model for ICU patients with advanced illnesses. This center represents a synthesis of interdisciplinary expertise and positions MAHE as a nexus of health research in India, contributing to both national policy alignment and sustainable healthcare innovations.
