Amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, countries standing up for freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz are delivering a critical message, emphasized by Arsenio Dominguez, secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization.
Addressing concerns over Iran-US conflicts threatening global shipping, Dominguez stressed the importance of de-escalation to restore normalcy in trade. The IMO has put forward evacuation plans for stranded seafarers and arranged multinational cooperation to clear hazards from the Strait of Hormuz.
As hopes for easing navigation pressures dwindle amidst ongoing US blockades, Dominguez maintains optimism, highlighting dialogue among conflicting parties. Additionally, he rejected future toll measures for international waterways, urging cooperation to safeguard seafarers and sustain economic throughput.
