Tragedy struck in Telangana as Shankar Goud, a Telangana RTC driver, succumbed to injuries after setting himself on fire amid ongoing strikes by corporation employees. The strike originated over demands, including the RTC's merger with the government. Goud committed the act at Narsampet, Warangal district, resulting in serious burns that led to his demise early Friday.

This tragic event unfolded as state officials engaged in discussions with staff unions to resolve the strike, lasting since April 22. A tense standoff ensued when Goud's relatives and colleagues wished to bring his body to his workplace for final respects. The move was denied by the police, citing concerns over law and order.

The death and surrounding incidents have ignited political tensions. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has criticized the government's handling of the situation and the police's refusal to allow the transportation of Goud's body. Meanwhile, the government announced support for Goud's family, promising financial aid and other provisions.
