A government school teacher and his wife were killed on Wednesday, after their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding trailer truck in Rajasthan's Sikar district, police said. They said the accident took place on the Sikar-Udaipurwati road near Golyana village. Assistant Sub-Inspector Karni Singh of Gothra police station said that the deceased were identified as Ashok Gurjar (32), a resident of Reta village, and his wife Pooja (25). ''The collision was so severe that both victims died on the spot due to head and multiple injuries,'' he said. Police said Ashok Gurjar was a teacher at a government senior secondary school in Jeenmata. According to family members, the couple was on their way to attend a wedding in the wife's maternal family when the accident occurred. They had left from Reta village and were heading towards Todpura. On the way, they briefly stopped at the school where Ashok took casual leave before proceeding. Near Golyana, a trailer truck coming from the opposite direction hit their motorcycle, police said. The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary of the district hospital in Sikar for post-mortem, police said. The trailer truck has been seized and a case registered, while efforts are underway to trace the driver who fled the spot after the accident, they added.
