In a significant development for India's road infrastructure sector, Dr. Anilkumar Gaikwad, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), has been chosen as the President of the India Chapter of the International Road Federation (IRF). This election is a testament to Dr. Gaikwad's exemplary leadership and strategic vision in advancing India's transportation infrastructure.

Dr. Gaikwad took office on May 9, 2026, during the Council Meeting at India International Centre, New Delhi, with his tenure set for two years. Enhancing MSRDC's international presence, MSRDC Chief Engineer S.K. Suravase has also been recognized with a nomination to the Governing Council of the IRF India Chapter, further cementing India's prominence in global road infrastructure discourse.

The IRF, established in 1948 and based in Geneva, is committed to advancing road safety, sustainable transportation, and innovation. As India witnesses rapid infrastructure growth, Dr. Gaikwad's role as President positions him at the forefront of efforts to promote best practices in line with global standards, focusing on safe, smart, and sustainable mobility solutions.

Dr. Gaikwad's tenure at MSRDC has been marked by groundbreaking projects, notably the Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, a 701 km expressway that has redefined connectivity in Maharashtra. As an acclaimed civil engineer, Dr. Gaikwad's career spans over four decades, with significant roles in transformative infrastructure initiatives, earning accolades such as the Best Engineer Award and the Rashtriya Gaurav Puraskar.
