In a tragic accident early Monday, five people lost their lives and three were injured following a high-speed collision between a sports bike and a car in Mahabubnagar district, police reported.
The collision occurred around 12:30 AM at Palakonda crossroads on Mahabubnagar bypass. The car, carrying eight occupants returning from a birthday event, was struck by the bike traveling at 160 kmph.
While investigations are ongoing, a senior police official noted the involvement of a group of motorcyclists. Although initially suspected to be a race, conflicting accounts have emerged. Relatives of victims allege reckless racing behavior, while police statements suggest high-speed riding without racing intent. The group fled the scene, leaving a community in mourning.
