Revamping West Bengal: A New Blueprint for Industrialization

In a recent address, West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya underscored the need for a revamped land policy to propel industrialization within the state. He assured investors of a fearless environment, shedding light on the state's potential industrial transformation.
Speaking at a business chamber, Bhattacharya suggested the abolition of the Urban Land Ceiling Act and the introduction of contract farming, targeting a longstanding demand from industrial circles. Drawing inspiration from successful models in states like Haryana and Maharashtra, he proposed these measures as part of the state's economic strategy.
Emphasizing the state's untapped potential, Bhattacharya highlighted the need for overcoming political interference and land-related challenges. Despite past reforms turning the landless into owners, Bhattacharya noted the state's failure to advance a cooperative movement. Stressing the urgency for industrial participation, he assured business leaders of a streamlined approach to land reforms.
