The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has unveiled the IP Catalyst initiative and its digital platform to enhance India's intellectual property and innovation ecosystem in the electronics and IT sectors. Announced during the national conference titled 'From Patent to Product: Accelerating IP Commercialization in Electronics & IT,' the initiative aims to strengthen the country's capabilities in IP creation and commercialization.
S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, launched the initiative, emphasizing its implementation by C-DAC Pune to support the complete innovation lifecycle. This covers everything from research and intellectual property creation to technology transfer, commercialization, and market deployment. The digital platform, cipie.in, will serve as a unified online gateway for IP and commercialization support services. It will also be a repository for technologies developed through MeitY-backed research initiatives.
Key note speakers, including Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary of MeitY, and Unnat P. Pandit, Registrar of Copyrights, highlighted the initiative's role in accelerating innovation-led growth. Discussions emphasized the need to transition from merely filing patents to maximizing economic and technological value from IP. The initiative aligns with the government's Viksit Bharat vision and aims to fast-track the lab-to-market journey in the Electronics and IT domain.
