In a significant move, the Delhi government has announced plans to provide collateral-free loans of up to Rs 10 crore to women-led startups and self-help groups in the capital city. This step, revealed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, aims to empower women economically and support local entrepreneurship.
To further assist, the government will create platforms within malls and large shopping complexes across Delhi, enabling these women-led groups to showcase their products. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The announcement was made during the 'Mega Self Help Group (SHG) Mela-2026' in Rohini, highlighting the importance of promoting indigenous products. Twenty-four self-help groups participated, exhibiting a variety of handcrafted goods. Gupta urged citizens to prefer local products, reinforcing campaigns like 'Monday metro' and 'No Vehicle Day'.
