In a tragic event on Monday, a high-speed collision on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway in Palghar district left 13 individuals dead and 20 others injured, officials confirmed. The accident involved a tempo filled with guests heading to an engagement ceremony and a speeding container trailer.
The crash, which also entangled a motorcycle, occurred near Dhaniwari village when a trailer, moving out of control, collided with the tempo traveling on the wrong side of the road. Immediate compensation has been announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the victims' families.
Emergency services and police rushed to the scene to conduct rescue operations and clear the highway. An ongoing investigation is examining factors such as excessive speed, road conditions, and vehicle control as potential causes of this tragic incident, turning the anticipated celebration into mourning.
