India and Canada are accelerating efforts to finalize negotiations for a free trade agreement by the close of this year, as revealed by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.
During a three-day official visit to Canada, Goyal, accompanied by a delegation of industry leaders from over 100 companies, addressed the media in Ottawa alongside Canada's Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu, emphasizing the bilateral commitment to elevate trade from $17 billion to $50 billion by 2030.
Both nations are optimistic about the successful conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, with a focus on reducing import duties and boosting sectors such as energy, agriculture, and technology. India's Joint Secretary of Commerce, Brij Mohan Mishra, and Canada's negotiator, Bruce Christie, spearhead the ongoing talks, with a third round taking place in Ottawa.
