Nayab Singh Saini has announced an ambitious initiative to expand public transportation throughout Haryana, emphasizing that such an expansion is key to reducing petrol and diesel consumption. This move is part of Haryana's sustainable mobility goals, as stated during a recent meeting on the state's transport vision.
Saini has tasked the Transport Department with developing route plans to enhance bus service connectivity in both rural and urban areas. The aim is to ensure that every village has access within a year. Acknowledging growing population demands, he called for the design of a modern transport network benefitting students and working professionals.
During discussions, Saini proposed increasing connectivity within cities and to industrial hubs through bus services, reducing the dependency on private vehicles. Other measures include integrating real-time tracking, installing CCTV for passenger safety, and prioritizing electric bus deployment coupled with charging infrastructure.
In a bid to combat pollution, officials were instructed to tighten checks on vehicles without valid PUC certificates. Furthermore, Saini highlighted plans for a unified command center for managing the expanding transport network, and initiatives like vehicle scrapping facilities were also discussed to align with environmental conservation efforts.
