Faced with unprecedented electricity demand during an intense summer spell, Delhi's power distribution network has demonstrated remarkable resilience, according to Ashish Sood. On a recent peak day in May, the capital's energy use hit 8,439 MW, significantly higher than last year's figures for the same month.
Sood attributes the network's robustness to concerted efforts by the Delhi government in enhancing infrastructure based on a comprehensive power masterplan. Highlighting progress, Sood noted a dramatic reduction in reports of two-hour power cuts, from 147 to none, and aims to make Delhi a no-power-cut state in a few years. These measures, aimed at streamlining the system, have helped prevent outages during the current summer despite higher demands.
