An undercover operation conducted by Gurugram health officials has led to the exposure of a suspected sex determination racket, involving four individuals, including a doctor. The raid took place at a Faridabad hospital following intelligence about illegal gender determination tests and female infanticide.

A team led by the Gurugram health department, with police support, uncovered a widespread illegal network. The operation centered around Lilavati Hospital in NIT Faridabad, where reports indicated illegal fetal sex determination tests were conducted for financial gain.

The operation successfully deployed a pregnant woman as a decoy customer, with the suspects demanding Rs 32,000 for the test. During the sting, the woman was transported to Gurugram and subsequently to Palwal, where the fetus's gender was verified using an ultrasound.

Upon the confirmation of the fetus being female, the raiding team took immediate action. Civil Surgeon Lokveer highlighted the severity of such illegal practices and promised stringent measures against offenders. Following the operation, cash, mobile phones, and medical records were confiscated, and an FIR was filed under the PCPNDT Act against Om Prakash, Anjali, Vishnu, and Dr GK Pachauri.

The investigation aims to dismantle the entire network, with authorities focused on identifying all individuals involved in this illicit trade.
