Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) celebrated its 50th anniversary, underscoring its indispensable role in connecting remote areas and driving the socio-economic development of the state. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein highlighted the service's transformation from its humble start in 1975 into a key public transport provider.
Chowna Mein praised APSTS for adopting state-of-the-art technologies, reflecting its commitment to safety and innovation. He acknowledged the department's growth as synonymous with the state's progress, with modern advancements such as GPS tracking and electric buses improving passenger experience.
Addressing the golden jubilee event in Khonsa, Transport Minister Ojing Tasing emphasized the celebration as a tribute to the pioneers who established APSTS. He assured that ongoing modernisation efforts will continue to provide inclusive, reliable, and innovative transportation solutions throughout Arunachal Pradesh.
Education and Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona stressed the integral part public transport plays in economic growth, congratulating the service on its half-century milestone. In line with these celebrations, new initiatives, such as luxury buses and awareness programs, aim to enhance comfort and safety for passengers.
