Girls Outperform Boys in CBSE Exams Despite Fewer High Scores
The CBSE board exam results for classes 10 and 12 show girls outperforming boys, while high scorers above 90% declined. Pass rates slightly increased overall, with a notable rise in transgender students passing. New competency-based questions contributed to these trends. Merit lists were not published to reduce competition.

Girls continued to outperform boys in the CBSE board exams for classes 10 and 12, according to the newly released results. However, the number of candidates scoring above 90% saw a marked decrease compared to previous years, noted Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.
The overall pass percentage for both classes saw a modest increase, with class 12 standing at 88.39%, up from last year's 87.98%, and class 10 reporting a 93.66% pass rate, a slight increase from 93.60% last year. Notably, the pass percentage for transgender students saw a significant rise, hitting 100% in class 12, compared to 50% last year.
Despite a decline in high scorers, the rise in competency-based questions is believed to have fueled these results. There will be no merit list released to avoid unhealthy competition among students, and supplementary exams are scheduled for July to allow students to improve their scores in one or two subjects.
