In a significant move, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is taking steps to better support students from marginalized communities. On Thursday, JMI Vice Chancellor Mazhar Asif and Registrar Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi met with Delhi's Minister for Welfare of SC/ST/OBC to discuss these initiatives.
Discussions centered around strengthening academic and developmental opportunities for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes (OBC) students. A key proposal was the creation of separate hostels for boys and girls from these communities, an idea welcomed by the minister, who assured full support.
The meeting also highlighted JMI's Residential Coaching Academy, known for preparing civil service aspirants from underprivileged backgrounds.
