Tripura has officially become the third fully literate state in India, following Mizoram and Goa, marking a significant milestone. The Union Ministry of Education made the announcement at an event held in Rabindra Bhavan, attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
During the event, Chief Minister Saha hailed this achievement as a historic moment for the northeastern state. He emphasized that literacy is essential to achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India by 2047.
The Adult Literacy Department, led by Director Preeti Meena, identified 23,184 illiterate adults in Tripura, providing them with crucial support. Officials urged continued education and skill development as key to maintaining literacy gains.
