Employees from Group C and D of the education department staged a sit-in protest in Salt Lake on Wednesday, demanding the immediate publication of a certificate list for eligible staff members. The demonstration took place outside the SSC headquarters, where the protesters called for transparency and clarity.
Organized under the banner 'Odhikar Mancha,' the protest began with a march from Karunamoyee to the SSC office. They urged a meeting with the SSC chairperson to present their demands for reinstatement of 3,394 qualified candidates, which include 1,255 Group C and 2,139 Group D employees.
The protesters argued that their joblessness resulted from the inability of the School Service Commission (SSC) to discern candidates who secured jobs through legitimate means from those who did not. They demanded an immediate reinstatement for those not involved in corruption and sought to have all OMR sheets uploaded on the official SSC website for increased transparency.
