JNU Launches New Academic Centres Celebrating Marathi Culture and Strategic Studies
Jawaharlal Nehru University is inaugurating two academic centres: the Kusumagraj Special Centre for Marathi Language, Literature and Culture, and the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Special Centre for Security and Strategic Studies. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is set to debut two new academic centres focusing on Marathi culture and strategic studies on July 24. The unveiling will be presided over by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, alongside other distinguished state officials at the JNU Convention Centre.
Named the Kusumagraj Special Centre for Marathi Language, Literature and Culture, and the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Special Centre for Security and Strategic Studies, these initiatives align with the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. JNU Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit emphasized their role in enhancing the university's commitment to Indian knowledge systems, languages, and strategic history.
The centres will offer postgraduate and certificate programs. The Marathi centre honours the legacy of iconic poet Kusumagraj, focusing on language and cultural studies. The Shivaji Maharaj centre will delve into indigenous strategic traditions, aiming to bridge historical gaps and inform contemporary security strategies. Academic and strategic dialogues, including contributions from military personnel, will be integral to these programmes.
