Professor Santanu Kumar Swain from Banaras Hindu University has been named the new vice chancellor of Sikkim University, a central institution in the Himalayan state, according to official sources.
The Ministry of Education announced Swain's appointment through a notification, stating he will serve a five-year term unless he reaches the age of 70 first. This decision was endorsed by President Droupadi Murmu, as the visitor to the university.
With a robust background from one of India's prestigious universities, Swain is anticipated to guide Sikkim University towards greater academic and research achievements. The ministry has informed relevant authorities about the change, including the President's secretariat, UGC, and AIU.
