Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood has taken immediate action to combat severe waterlogging issues affecting several schools in the city. On Wednesday, Sood called upon relevant departments to implement urgent measures ensuring the safety of students and staff.
Schools in areas such as Nithari, Kirari, Molarband, and Madanpur Khadar have been particularly hard hit by monsoon rains, leading to disrupted classes and elevating health and safety concerns. Sood criticized the negligence of previous administrations, which he claims has left young children vulnerable.
Immediate actions include mosquito-control measures, additional pump deployments, silt removal, and cleanliness campaigns. Despite longstanding waterlogging issues, no permanent drainage solutions have been established. Local representative Anil Jha has also advocated for improvements, emphasizing the critical need for strategic interventions to maintain uninterrupted school operations.
