In a bid to enhance campus safety, Jadavpur University has announced plans to install fences around its waterbodies and improve lighting across the main campus. This decision follows the tragic drowning of a student, Anamika Mondal, during a cultural program organized by the Arts Faculty Students' Union.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Amitava Dutta emphasized the urgency of these measures despite financial challenges. "We are committed to ensuring a secure environment for our students while maintaining ecological balance," Dutta stated. The institution is open to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support the fencing project.

Meanwhile, discussions are underway regarding the formation of a disciplinary committee to address campus behavior. However, the need for stringent security protocols is evident, as faculty and students express concerns about unregulated access post-dusk and insufficient funding for comprehensive safety improvements.
