The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has sanctioned the establishment of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas nationwide, including two in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla and Sirmour districts. Education Minister Rohit Thakur disclosed these plans to bolster educational opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas.
This strategic move, recommended by the Himachal Pradesh government, aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, offering CBSE curriculum-based education from the pre-primary level. The initiative promises to bring high-quality education and advanced infrastructure to local communities, minimizing the need for students to relocate for better educational prospects.
Thakur acknowledged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's support in advancing the state's educational agenda. Each new school is expected to employ around 80 staff members and spur local economic growth through construction-related jobs, affirming the state's commitment to continuing such developmental endeavors.
