Karnataka's SSLC Results Renews Grading Debate

Karnataka's Minister for School Education and Literacy, Madhu Bangarappa, revealed that the SSLC exam results are set to be announced on April 23, a day earlier than the previously scheduled date. Students will receive marks instead of grades for the third language papers following a court directive.

The High Court refused the state's plea to review its April 15 order, which mandated the valuation of SSLC exams per existing rules. Initially, the government proposed replacing marks with a grading system for third language evaluations, a decision contested by students.

Despite efforts to revise the grading system, including a failed petition, officials must adhere to the court's order. The ongoing debate centers on easing student burdens by switching from marks to grades for third language assessments, mainly affecting those taking Hindi.
