TSHRC Cracks Down on Schools' Advance Fee Collection

The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TSHRC) has taken serious notice of allegations against a private school in Boduppal, accused of mandating advance fee payments.

The complainant claims the school is violating norms by collecting 50% of annual fees for 2026-2027 upfront, along with payments for books and uniforms.

TSHRC, under Justice Shameem Akther, emphasized that such actions contravene educational principles, underscoring education as a fundamental right and not profit-driven. The commission has instructed officials to enforce fee regulation norms with phased collections and mandated a report of action taken.
