NEET-UG 2026 Cancellation: Unpacking the Controversy

The cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 has stirred anxiety among over 22 lakh medical aspirants and their families, as they await new examination dates and guidelines. Allegations of irregularities led to the sudden halt of the examination, marking another chapter in the controversial history of NEET.

Rajasthan's Special Operations Group, alongside other agencies, is investigating these irregularities despite the National Testing Agency's (NTA) assurance of stringent security measures during the initial examination. The examination will be reconducted, with their last registration and examination centres being valid, as confirmed by NTA.

In response to the controversies, a government probe by the CBI has been initiated. This follows a pattern of historical challenges for NEET, including impersonation scams, paper leaks, and legal challenges, each prompting calls for examination reforms.
