A leadership vacuum in Kerala's education department is causing substantial disruptions, CPI(M) leader V Sivankutty noted on Thursday. The absence of a cabinet ten days post-election is affecting the department's operations, with no minister to steer critical functions.
Sivankutty, former General Education Minister, took to Facebook to express concerns over mounting issues requiring ministerial intervention. He highlighted the delay in the announcement of Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) results, impacting countless students and parents anxiously awaiting updates.
The lack of leadership also stalls school readiness for the incoming academic year and hampers textbook distribution. Sivankutty accused the central government of withholding funds essential for teacher training and related activities in the Samagra Shiksha, Kerala program, further destabilizing the sector.
