CBSE Results Reflect Shift to Competency-Based Assessment
The CBSE Class 12 results reveal a dip in the pass percentage due to a shift towards competency-based assessments and on-screen marking (OSM). Educators attribute this to a focus on conceptual understanding rather than rote learning. Kendriya Vidyalayas achieved high results, while subjects like physics and mathematics saw a decline.

The CBSE Class 12 results, announced on Wednesday, indicated a drop in pass percentages, attributed to the board's new competency-based assessment strategies, say educationists. With over 85% candidates passing, the emphasis on understanding and application rather than rote learning has been highlighted as a significant shift in evaluation.
Kendriya Vidyalayas maintained a stellar performance with a pass rate of 98.55%. Sudhakar Prasad Thakur, a former principal, credited this success to the institution's coordinated approach that identifies and addresses student learning gaps, equipping them with essential skills and competencies for improved problem-solving.
While some subjects showed marked improvement, principals noted disappointing results in physics and mathematics. On-screen marking (OSM) was praised for providing clear guidelines for fair assessments. The transition towards application-based evaluations aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) recommendations, marking a step forward in educational reform.
