The Ladakh Union Territory administration has taken a significant step towards enhancing educational facilities in the region by signing an MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu. This agreement paves the way for establishing a satellite campus in Leh.
Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena described the move as a 'historic chapter' in Ladakh's journey towards fulfilling youth aspirations by providing world-class education closer to home. The initiative aims to open new doors for students in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Initially, the campus will offer courses in civil engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science, addressing geographical access challenges to premier technical institutions. Plans for a full-fledged residential campus in Kargil as a center of excellence are also on the horizon.
