Karnataka Sets Up Cabinet Sub-Committee for Education Policy Overhaul

The Karnataka government has established a six-member Cabinet sub-committee to scrutinize and suggest the implementation of the State Education Policy (SEP). This development was announced on Saturday, marking a significant step toward educational reform in the state.

The panel, under the leadership of Home Minister G Parameshwara, includes key figures such as Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil, Social Welfare Minister H C Mahadevappa, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil, and Higher Education Minister M C Sudhakar.

The committee's primary responsibility is to analyze a detailed report from the State Education Policy Commission, led by Professor Sukhdeo Thorat. The report addresses numerous aspects, such as financial implications, curriculum reforms, and the structuring of various university types. Following in-depth discussions, the Cabinet has empowered the Chief Minister to facilitate this crucial educational review.
