Education in Transition: Delaying the MTET for Teachers

Meghalaya's Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, announced on Monday that the Meghalaya Teacher Eligibility Test (MTET), initially set for May 29, would be postponed. This decision comes after teachers expressed the challenges they faced balancing exam preparations with their roles in Census and Special Intensive Revision duties.

During a public event in North Garo Hills, Sangma acknowledged the difficulties teachers were encountering, stating that their concerns were understandable given their demanding schedules. He assured educators that the examination would be rescheduled to provide them with ample preparation time.

Sangma also addressed the broader educational challenges in Meghalaya, applauding teachers for their dedication despite systemic issues. While highlighting government investments in school infrastructure, he noted that improving education quality remains a priority that requires active involvement from parents and stakeholders.
