American rapper A$AP Rocky recently opened up about his past audition for the role of Lando Calrissian in the 2018 film 'Solo: A Star Wars Story.' Despite his efforts, the character was ultimately portrayed by Donald Glover, a decision Rocky wholeheartedly supports, according to a report from People magazine.
Rocky candidly admitted, "My audition was trash. I was trash that day," while praising Glover's portrayal, commenting, "My man Childish Gambino was a way better Lando than I would've provided at that time." He further acknowledged Glover's resemblance to Billy Dee Williams, the original Lando actor. The film, directed by Ron Howard, depicts the backstory of Han Solo, featuring Alden Ehrenreich as the protagonist, alongside a star-studded cast including Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke.
Despite his past setback, Rocky expressed enthusiasm for another opportunity in a future 'Star Wars' project, enthusiastically responding, "Hell, yeah," when asked about auditioning again. Meanwhile, anticipation builds for his role in the upcoming film 'Highest 2 Lowest', where he will star with Denzel Washington. The Spike Lee film, a modern-day New York interpretation of Akira Kurosawa's 'High and Low,' is set to debut at Cannes in May 2025 and hit theaters in August before its Apple TV+ release in September.
