Flying to New Heights: The Inspiring Journey of Wing Commander Vyomika Singh

In the early 1990s, a young Vyomika Singh dreamed of soaring the skies after a classmate pointed out that her name, Vyomika, means 'you own the sky.' Today, that dream is a reality as she serves as a Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force.

Recently, Singh was in the spotlight as she briefed the nation about India's decisive 'Operation Sindoor,' conducted in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam. The strikes targeted nine terror points in Pakistan, including notorious strongholds. Singh, an adept helicopter pilot, has participated in numerous rescue missions under challenging conditions.

Sharing her journey during a 2023 panel discussion, Singh recounted the pivotal moment from her childhood that carved her path to aviation. Logging over 2,500 flight hours, she demonstrated skill in flying across challenging terrains, such as those in Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast.
