Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel led a virtual meeting on Tuesday with vice chancellors of private universities, focused on plans for International Yoga Day on June 21. Held at the Raj Bhavan, the meeting aimed to put Ayush Ministry guidelines into practice and broaden yoga's reach.

Governor Patel remarked that yoga is an invaluable part of Indian culture, proving beneficial not only for physical health but also mental and spiritual well-being. She encouraged institutions to begin Yoga Day celebrations from June 1. The governor, who serves as the chancellor of state universities, directed institutions to carry out yoga sessions in coordination with local Anganwadi centers and schools, aligning with the Ayush Ministry's 10-point agenda.

In the meeting, Patel requested a comprehensive report on the health benefits observed from these programs, advocating for wider awareness. Universities were instructed to monitor female students' health with BMI checks. The Governor stressed the importance of nutrition and yoga for combating malnutrition among primary school children, suggesting year-round nutrition plans. Additionally, adopted villages should receive special outreach through health camps, and there was a call for yoga sessions targeting pregnant women to reduce childbirth complications.
