Kannada director K Ramnarayan has stated that singer Sonu Nigam's apology for his controversial comments is insufficient. Ramnarayan has called for Nigam to face additional repercussions for remarks made that linked Kannada pride to a national tragedy in Pahalgam.

In response to the incident, Ramnarayan replaced two of Nigam's songs in his forthcoming film with track singer Chethan Sosca's versions. The director emphasized the significance of the title track 'Kuladalli Keelyavudo', denoting its cultural importance for the Kannada film industry.

Nigam, who has issued a public apology on social media, faces further backlash as a complaint was filed by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike against him. The incident unfolded during a live concert, causing a stir after his sharp retort to an audience member's request for a Kannada song.
